Very good summer read. A little predictable but with one or two twists.

Fun colors (and shades) to learn, tabs to pull, familiar objects to point to (and eventually name), we highly recommend this book. Loved it as a board book in late infancy and well into the toddler years.

Not having read this author before, I found her to be a hidden gem. I loved the way this simple story was told with kindness, love, understanding and compassion. It a story about doing the right thin even when it really feels wrong, and about new beginnings. I highly recommend it. It will make you feel good.

Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone

This was the book selection for my July Killer Reads book club. I'm really glad it was the book choice because I don't know if I would have picked it up at my library but I'm really glad I read it. This book was a humorous spin on a classic whodunit mystery plot. Ernie's presence is requested at a family reunion at a ski lodge, where he will be face to face with his entire family, including the brother that he helped send to prison for murder. However, long buried family secrets are brought to light and an unidentified man is found dead out in the snow. What seems like a death attributed to exposure to the elements turns out to be something much more sinister- the work of a serial killer known as The Black Tongue. More bodies are discovered, and Ernie starts to investigate and uncover the truth. Will he be able to uncover who is responsible for tithe Black Tounge killings and what ties there are to his own family before it's too late? Filled with humor, this first person narration is a fun mystery to try and solve along with Ernie.

In typical King style, this book combines real life with fantasy, and what King does best here is to blur the line between these two. The book starts out brutally, with a woman suffering the beatings of her husband, but when she decides to finally leave, she could not have imagined what will await her, both very good and very bad. I really liked this book.

Thrilling, harrowing, intense. This account is a must read to know what this person experienced. How will and faith were tested in one of the darkest times collectively.
